Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a relatively new but proven to be incredibly effective form of therapy, being recognized as an effective form of treatment by many organizations. Instead of relying on traditional talk therapy or medications, EMDR utilizes a patient’s rapid eye movements, which can dampen the negative feelings associated with past memories. Your therapist will shift your thoughts from negative to positive ones as they lead you through rapid eye movement. EMDR therapy has been shown to help people of all ages, especially those suffering from panic attacks, anxiety, and PTSD.
Havening techniques are a way to de-traumatize memories and remove their negative effects on the brain by using sensory input from human touch as the main therapeutic tool. It forgoes traditional techniques such as talking and using drugs, which don’t address the main source of trauma and instead attempt to alleviate its symptoms, and utilizes touch to directly affect the subconscious and eliminate any problems directly. It’s a new and revolutionary technique that has seen much success in the time it has been put into practice.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) focuses on attachment and bonding between family members and couples in adult relationships. It looks at patterns and problems within relationships and addresses them in order to form more secure bonds and improve communication. There are three stages to EFT Therapy: de-escalation, which identifies negative interaction and emotional patterns that cause issues in a relationship, restructuring, in which partners express their emotions to one another to allow them to become more responsive to each other’s needs, and consolidation, in which couples learn skills and techniques to avoid future conflict and misunderstandings. EFT benefits couples who struggle with communication problems, in which one of the members of the relationship usually suffers from a mental illness, such as addiction or depression. EFT has been proven to increase empathy and interpersonal understanding.
Hypnotherapy is a form of guided hypnosis, a state in which you are given heightened focus and concentration, where you are completely absorbed in the therapeutic process. It encourages relaxation and makes your mind more open to suggestions, which can tap into your subconscious and allows your therapist to guide you through any problems that may be within it. Your therapist will go over your treatment and goals with you, and then bring you into a relaxed and receptive state. In this receptive state, your therapist will place goals, suggestions, and vivid and meaningful messages within your mind. It has been proven to be an effective treatment for many kinds of issues and disorders, such as anxiety, phobias, pain management, spontaneous behaviors, and many more.
