About:

Maria Ruiz-Pedraza is a License Assistant Counselor (LAC) in the State of New Jersey, with more than a decade of experience in providing mental health and academic service.

Her passion has always been to help young adolescents help discover their life paths and navigate through difficult journeys. She specializes in adolescents and adults with a wide range of problems such as ADHD, depression, anxiety, defiance behavior, separation anxiety, stress, and trauma. She achieved a Master of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling from New Jersey City University’s CACREP-accredited counseling program. In addition, she also obtained a Master of Arts in Teaching from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She is equally fluent in English and Spanish and her goal is to provide a nonjudgemental and relaxing space.

Approach:

Mrs. Ruiz-Pedraza uses a holistic approach with an emphasis on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), solution confusion, and mindfulness approach. She also provides faith-based counseling enabled through her 25 years of service to the religious and nonprofit sectors. Maria provides a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can address issues and gain valuable life skills. Her goal is to help individuals and families in her community to understand themselves and their unique situations so they may find healing, strength, and coping skills.
